Xena lived up to her name as a female warrior. Chihuahua wrapped up a Fuzz Ball animal rescue in Hermiston, Oregon, after being hit by a car while giving birth. They took the dog to the Oregon Trail Veterinary Clinic, where it was amputated from injuries in the accident. Xena also had to have an emergency cesarean section because the fetus was too large to deliver naturally.

What happened after birth? On Wednesday, the rescue brought a happy ending to the tragic story. Chihuahua's mom survived the surgery, as did her healthy son. "Great to see both of them doing well! It's a miracle. This mom is a warrior and so are her kids," rescuers posted on Facebook. "To survive on the street, ran over with a puppy that was too big to get out, then had a C-shaped rip and amputation while in shock! They are little miracles!
