The dog who survived three murders in his home and climbed from window to roof will be euthanized at the shelter

An eight-year-old dog with a near-impossible survival will be euthanized at the Institute for Animal Care and Control in Chicago. After being found on the roof of a building following a string of tragic events, Topper came to the shelter as a wanderer. Three of Topper's family members were murdered and his fourth family member committed suicide.
Topper's rescue has drawn national attention after he was hoisted to safety from the roof of a dilapidated house by a crane. A loyal dog was once haunted by the violent death of the only human he ever knew. Only Topper survived, and he was found sitting on the roof of that house, watching over the tormented ghosts and crumbling walls.

In the blink of an eye, he lost the whole world. He is gentle, loving, and sweet. CACC works well but needs more adoption and support to keep going and save more lives

TOPPER has been in the shelter for six months and has learned love from the staff. He loves hugs, but now he's become protective of his lair and doesn't want to leave. According to shelter officials, he had been there too long and was too attached to his caretaker — a volunteer — and had to be the only dog in the family if he was to be adopted.

TOPPER is friendly, gentle, intelligent, curious, and loves agility and food puzzles. He trots, jumps, and bounces, showing excitement and fun! On the other hand, his heart swells with this new-found reality called love. All he needs is a house that can bloom.

Please share this dog's plight with approved rescue groups, friends, family, and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
