After two weeks search and rescue dog still missing

Send photo Sven, a seven-year-old search and rescue dog went missing on the border between Sugar Grove and Ashville. He had not roamed before.
Sven - a seven-year-old German Shepherd who is also a certified search and rescue dog - remains unaccounted for.

Sven disappeared again on October 5 on the New York and Pennsylvania border between Asheville and Sugarloaf. He has been training as a search and rescue dog since he was about a year old and has all his certifications. Owner and manager Bryonna Ford work with him as part of the Cherry Grove Search and Rescue Department in Cherry Grove, Pennsylvania. Ford was also a student at Jamestown Community College and worked part-time in a dental practice.

"We had some visibility, but nothing positive to accomplish," Ford said. "We're offering $1,000 for his return."

Since he disappeared, Ford and her family have done everything they can to find him, including on social media and at search parties.

"We used to use ATVs," Ford said. "We had someone on a horse to see the forest. We were driving down the road and someone used his drone to search the area. There were more than 700 flyers and posters around."

The family also covered Sven on radio and television. They also conduct side-by-side, walking searches, and even night-time searches. They also consulted a trapper to set a trap for him once he was spotted. They said he was not a runner and had never hiked before.

Sven was last seen on Wellman Road and Blossom Road, but Ford said it was difficult to determine if it was him, as there were many German shepherds on Blossom Road.

If Sven is recognized, Ford will ask you not to call him or chase him, but to take a picture and find the exact location and contact her.

"If you can, take a photo without getting too close or scaring him," Ford said. "Don't call him or try to chase him. Just call me and when you call please tell me the exact location and time of the sighting and I'll go out and look for him."

As a search and rescue dog, Sven served his community, and the family asked the community to help him find him and bring him home.

"He had a loving home," Ford said. "He misses him so much. Call me when you see him."

Ford can be reached at 716-456-1070.
